airplanes!

Just off a long runway that leads straight to the sea, in view of swaying palms trees and laid-back cows casually grazing, sit these two relics of aviation. A Russian bi-plane and a Cubana Airlines aircraft pass time under intense sun, providing home to wasps, bats, and various creepy crawlers. The bats didn't enjoy the surprise visit by a couple of photographers on this steamy day, and fluttered angrily about while the unwanted guests took temporary refuge in the cool, dark interior of the larger Cubana plane.

The smaller bi-plane appears to be having trouble defending itself from an invasive bramble. But it almost looks like the greenery wants to help. Vines slithering around the cockpit toy with the rusting levers and buttons as if to see if they can help the grounded aircraft take off for one last flight.
