'Erected A.D. 1905"- almost one hundred years later, these
hospital buildings are mostly forgotten. Clearly the complex outgrew
itself- the small, stylish red-brick buildings are dwarfed by a
large modern structure nearby. Could it be that the use of asbestos
in the older buildings necessitated a new treatment center? The
small brick constructions were insulated with asbestos and piles
of asbestos 'products' can be found in their basements. And it's
questionable whether the larger building is up to modern code- peering
up its many stories, one can see dozens of broken windows. What
is happening in there, if there are no patients?
