glenwood power plant: cathedral of chaos

The right portion of the main building has a dark, cavernous central space, with bricks cascading from the walls into giant mounds on the floor. The air is damp from the Hudson River, sloshing away around and beneath the building. A catwalk stretches centrally the length of the space- I made my way up it have a look from above to the five stories below. After a leisurely walk, grasping the metal railings, I crawled a rusted set of steps up to the base of one the two massive smokestacks.

This portion of the plant is dark and moist,
at one point a hole in the floor reveals a pit
of water in the basement.
Broken windows and more mystery barrels

Everywall has toppled   Once walls, these bricks lie in heaps

    Stacks of very beautiful decorative
bricks have been left behind

<back     Are you afraid of heights? Come climb the catwalk>
