Let
your eyes follow the long, graceful incline that leads to the concrete
towers flanking this sturdy steel train-bridge, a fixture over the
East River since 1917. Now imagine you've just traversed the tracks,
scrambling away from speeding trains and trying to keep stable on
the rocky course. You are a tiny speck on the bridge, even more
minuscule compared to the New York City skyline behind you and invisible
from space. But here you feel huge, you are standing over the entire
world, you can see for miles. You move cautiously between girders
and beams, staying low in the shadows. You don't want to fall into
the most treacherous waters in all of the city and you don't want
anyone to see you and spoil your fun.
