paulinskill viaduct

paulinskill viaduct[New Jersey]

Look up- way up. Stretching over woods, highways and the Paulinskill River is this impressive concrete viaduct. Constructed during 1908-1910, the viaduct was originally used by the Lackawanna railroad company to move freight. After more than fifty years, succumbed to abandonment when the rail companies no longer had use for it. One set of tracks has been removed, but you can still skip from tie to tie on the other side. As you do this, take in the exhilarating view of the Valley below but be careful lest you take a 115-foot plunge- guardrails are missing in several places.

Climbing inside the smaller arches   Too bad they didn't paint
something interesting

The viaduct is a little out
of the way for the homeless ...
... but there are other residents.

Where the guardrails are
absent, some instructions
  A bit more fun suggestion
