It's
got glory, but no guts. This RKO Theatre's gorgeous exterior gives
way to a stripped interior, bare but for a few columns stretching
up to the sky. Cupids twist among the stone drapery and the weeds
that grow from the ornament wrapping around top of the building.
These cherubic residents have been living here since 1910 and are
helpless to defend their home against the 'ravages of time.' They've
seen the theatre fall into disrepair, lit afire, and now it's innards
stripped bare. Fortunately, this gutting is part of the structure's
renovation.
Outer portions of
the
building are stripped of floors ...
... and the main
space is even
stripped of roofing ('stage' to the right)
