Three layers high, with a floral sprig on top, this Gothic-style hospital building resembles a giant birthday cake. Taking the party inside, we saw the theme continued. Pale blue and pink molding is piped along the smooth, white-frosted halls. Ceiling lights are decorated with a flourish of roses and glazed pastel tiles dot the expansive corridors. The interior seems calm and peaceful at first, but the creaking floorboards and deep, echoing chambers sprinkled with dead bats may make you want to leave before the candles are blown out.
