Arriving at dusk, it was imperative to make quick use of the fading
daylight for outside photography. The image to the left was snapped
just before the sun dipped below the horizon. The darkness of the
night sky was nothing compared to the pitch black inside. Only our
flashlights illuminated the way through the tunnel that penetrated
deep into the rocky hillside. Had I the ultrasonic navigational
skills of the many bats fluttering overhead, I wouldn't have been
so worried when, halfway down the tracks, my flashlight's batteries
began to fail.
