williamsburg bridge
[February, 2002]
These
photos are from a recent early morning stroll on the newly-expanded
lanes of the Williamsburg Bridge. Perhaps the best time and place
to see this neighborhood is in the wee hours of the morning from
it's massive, industrial span across the East River. Near empty
trains rumble above and taxis dart back towards Manhattan to the
right. From this vantage, one can admire the graffiti on decrepit
warehouses and the milky blue-green glow from loft windows dotting
the landscape. Adding to the exhiliration of an unusual view at
off-hours is the sensation of the rumbling roadway, shaken by the
speeding traffic, below your feet.
Additional photos from this trip and previous trips are available
soon.
